Mens Golf Putters

Last but certainly not least, we come to the one instrument that can make or break any golfers game: the putter.

The putter is arguably the most important piece of equipment in your bag. I mean, you can't very well putt with a 9 iron after you lob your putter into a water hazard. It's the one, absolutely irreplaceable item in your bag.

But the putter is important not only because there is no other club like it. It is critical to your success as a golfer that you learn to putt in regulation - meaning a "two-putt" on every hole. Look at your recent score cards. Were you taking 4's, 5's and 6's on par 3 holes? It's a good bet that it's your putter causing the trouble.

You have to spend time on the practice green developing a consistent, steady swing with your putter if you ever hope to dramatically lower your score. Granted, if you can't get off the tee you won't have very much fun golfing (go here for golf swing tips), and your score will probably be north of Benjamin Franklin, but if you can't putt then it doesn't matter how straight your drives are - you'll struggle to break 90...I guarantee it.

You don't necessarily need an expensive putter, but there is something to be said for technological improvements. There are numerous putters on the market today that have a low and deep center of gravity, which makes them extremely stable through the putting stroke. If you can learn to produce a steady, straight, pendulum-type swing with your putter, and develop a little bit of green-reading ability, you'll be sinking 12 footers in no time flat. The key is consistency.

A few examples of well-balanced putters are the Odyssey DFX 2-Ball putter, the Ping G2i, and the TaylorMade Mezza Monza.

The key to putting well, like every other aspect of golf, is patience and practice. Time on the putting green is time well spent, so don't neglect this critical aspect of your game. And remember to have fun.

Good luck in your search for the right mens golf putter.

Tiger was swinging a club at the age of three. Maybe it's never to early to start, after all?
