TaylorMade Golf Clubs
TaylorMade. The name has become synonymous with PGA tour players, from Fred Couples to Retief Goosen. For over 20 years TaylorMade has been breaking the mold with innovation and quality. TaylorMade offers a complete line of clubs - drivers, fairway woods, irons, wedges, and putters.
TaylorMade Drivers
The new R500 line of titanium drivers feature a thin, flexible clubface that nears the new USGA limit on coefficient of restitution (COR) of .830*. These unique drivers also feature a larger-than-normal COR area on the clubface, making it easier to find the clubs "sweet spot."
The R7 driver integrates moveable weights in the clubhead to alter ball flight distance and trajectory by adjusting the clubhead's center of gravity. The R7 is very pricey, so unless you have lots of money to burn or are a Tour player, you may want to stick with a traditional TaylorMade driver. The R5 drivers feature pre-configured weight cartridges, taking the guesswork out of weight distribution. There are two models of the R5 - one that drives the ball straight and one that produces a slight draw (ball flight to the left).
TaylorMade Fairway Woods
Current model TaylorMade fairway woods number 3, 5 and 7. There are also two models of "rescue" woods to choose from. The fairway woods have integrated weight cartridges to lower the clubs center of gravity.
TaylorMade Irons
TaylorMade has several
models of irons available, depending on the amount of money you want to spend and the level of control you possess over the club.
TaylorMade Wedges
Wedges from 48° to 60° are available from TaylorMade. The new rac wedges have two "feel pockets" on the back of the club face which distribute impact energy away from the impact area, increasing your ability to "feel" the ball/club impact.
TaylorMade Putters
TaylorMade
putters have a low and deep center of gravity, giving them increased stability through the stroke and at impact. The Rossa and Monza models in particular have this feature. Sergio Garcia, Fred Couples, Darren Clarke, Retief Goosen and Justin Rose all use Rossa putters on tour.
* COR is the ratio of rebound speed divided by initial speed expressed as a percentage. If a golf ball is fired at a clubface at 100 mph and the ball rebounds at 83 mph, then that clubs COR is .830. This value is limited by the USGA, so as to keep golfers from knocking the ball "out of the park" with non-conforming drivers.
Good luck in your search for the right set of TaylorMade golf clubs for you.
